BASE RATE CASE FILING
On February 3, 2026, Mountaineer Gas Company filed for a rate increase seeking an additional $26,793,000 in annual revenue, representing an overall average increase of about 8.44% for approximately 218,000 customers throughout West Virginia. The request consists of a $43,764,000 base rate increase offset by a $16,971,000 reduction in the Investment Replacement and Expansion Program (IREP). The average monthly bill would increase $9.63, or 10.57%, for a residential customer and $14.21, or 4.09%, for a small commercial customer. The Public Service Commission (PSC) of West Virginia suspended the proposed rates on March 2, 2026, delaying any potential new rates to take effect no earlier than December 1, 2026.
Customers who wish to intervene formally must file a Petition to Intervene by May 5, 2026, while written protests can be submitted at any point during the proceeding via mail or online at www.psc.state.wv.us. Note that the requested amounts are proposals only and remain subject to adjustment — up or down — following the PSC’s full review.
